Building our
new Centre

The Need

Our old facility was small, lacked amenities, and was beyond repair. With renting a large space being unsustainable and limiting, it was time for an upgrade to a new, purpose-built facility.  As the importance of bird conservation is becoming more well-known, and the significance of each bird's life on future generations, the Ottawa Valley Wild Bird Care Centre's work is now more important than ever. Caring for thousands of birds annually, our goal is to ensure there is a wild bird advanced care facility in the Ottawa Valley Region that could expand as the needs continue to grow.

Building

The Vision

The construction of a new facility on 17+ acres of land will include:

  • A state-of-the art, advanced care wild bird emergency facility to better provide a higher standard of care, thereby increasing release rates

  • Creation of free-flight areas, both indoors and out, enriched to simulate a more natural environment

  • An interactive education/visitor area where the public can learn more about birds, their habitats, and environmental stewardship

  • The ability to grow and adapt to changing needs
